Leeds Children's Orthopaedics

My Story

Leeds Children's Hospital has an amazing Orthopaedic team that helps children from birth until adulthood with an enormous range of conditions that involve their musculoskeletal system - which basically means bones, joints, muscles, and any other soft tissue injuries that might happen. These can include trauma-related injuries, like falling off a trampoline, or being in a car accident and needing to have surgery and then rehab. Or long-term conditions like Perthes' Disease, a rare hip condition that leads to childrens' hips collapsing.

The team is made up of surgeons who lead the service here in Leeds and carry out surgery when needed. Clinical nurse specialists support the team with advice and support for children/families as well as reviews when a surgeon might not be needed. Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists within the team at Leeds Children's Orthopaedics help in a range of ways, including helping children get walking again after surgery, helping children get back to their favourite sport after injury, or simply providing advice and support on how to manage a long-term condition so that they can achieve their goals, whatever they may be!

The aim of this fundraising page is to raise money for the team at Leeds Children's Orthopaedics so that they can continue to support the children they treat however they need to.
